How do you cope with grief?
In my line of work as a Professional Organiser who works with Seniors, I am faced with grief and loss on a daily basis. Clients giving up family homes and precious possessions, the loss of a partner or parent, serious illness, frailty, dementia, and loss of independence.
Be patient, be understanding and above all, be kind!
We have all moved homes at some stage, haven’t we?
It’s not easy, and can be stressful and tiring. So much to think about, so much planning and organising. Clearing and sorting, deciding what to take and what to let go. Daunting and challenging for the best of us.
Baby steps to a sustainable lifestyle
In case you hadn’t noticed, our planet needs help. Fires, floods, hurricanes, extraordinary winds, and severe droughts.
And it starts with each one of us! We have to take responsibility and do something. Although this is a REPOST, it is very relevant right now.
My wish is that this list will help you towards a more sustainable lifestyle, and if it does you will share it with your friends.
THE PERFECT SMALL BOOK COLLECTION
Downsizing is a difficult process for most, and probably more so for Seniors who have to let go of possessions acquired over a lifetime. So much of it has a story, a memory and a connection to a person or an experience.
Say goodbye to harmful chemicals in your home
I wrote this article in 2016, and as I read through it recently I realised that I have never looked back. I never visit the cleaning aisle in the supermarket, and our cleaning routine has become simpler and easier with time. I still love reading Mrs Beeton’s Book of Household Management and regularly read articles online about natural cleaning methods. But little has changed since this article, and really hope you will enjoy the tips, and possibly share some of yours too!
What do I keep, throw out or donate?
My work week is spent assisting Seniors in their homes. Sometimes it’s about helping a Senior client declutter and reorganise their retirement home. At other times I am assisting with the downsizing and moving process to a smaller home. There is always a discussion on what to keep, what to throw away or recycle and what to donate. Here are some tips to help you when you are ready to do this:
A new year, a new you
This is a new year, and with it comes new resolutions, new habits, new opportunities and new adventures. So now is the time to ditch the old you and embrace the new you! It’s time to let go all of the items from your past that, if you are realistic, you know you no longer need or use. These things are just cluttering up your life and holding you back.
